Our first stage is the building of a virtual museum which is under way on the web with out website The cost of a comprehensive virtual museum website can vary from of the order of $2,000,000 to $20,000,000. The lower end of this estimate is based on the most elementary displays with plain HTML and little professional design for around 90 exhibits. The upper end is based on highly professional design and utilization of techniques involving 3-D, sound and motion. The virtual website is being built in collaboration between the Friends of the Museum of Money and Financial Institutions and the International Finance Center of the Yale School of Management. It is our intention to promote the collaboration of other academic institutions and institutions such as the National Council for Economic Education as we believe that an excellent virtual museum merits the support and collaboration of all institutions concerned with economic education at all levels. Regardless of the next two stages, the virtual museum alone provides a valuable product.
